Transport and forwarding law includes all legal provisions that affect the legal relationships of the people involved in the transport of goods.

In the economy but also in private freight transport, transport plays an outstanding role both nationally and internationally, especially in times of globalization and the Internet. Transport and forwarding companies use a wide variety of means of transport such as planes, ships, trains or trucks. But not only the transport of the transported goods, but also other logistics services such as the storage of the transported goods are among the services in transport and forwarding law.

Transport and forwarding law includes in particular the rights and obligations of the sender and recipient of the transported goods as well as the rights and obligations of the forwarding or transport companies.

Abschluss

Transport and forwarding law is regulated by different laws. It is based, among other things, on the general regulations of the Civil Code; special regulations for commercial transport and forwarding companies can be found in Sections 407 ff. of the Commercial Code. At the public law level, the Road Freight Transport Act in particular must be observed. Due to the particular importance of international freight transport, transport and forwarding law is also shaped by a large number of EU regulations and international agreements.
